Decision Support forMaintenance Management ofHighVoltage Components

2006
Transmission anddistribution components inthepowernetwork arecapital intensive assets, whichforce theownersofthese assets toutilise them inthemostefficient way.Efficient utilisation demands athorough analysis oftherelation between theassets performance andthestakeholders' expectations. To support electrical engineers intheinterpretation of diagnostics onbehalf ofassessment ofthecondition of highvoltage components, andtoaidtheasset management inabovementioned analysis, linkage between different information domains hastobe brought abouttogenerate therequired decision knowledge. Becauseof thelargeamountof components, thediversity ofcomponent typesand measurement data, information systems areneeded for storage, correlation andcomparison ofmeasurement dataonspecific components andspecific component types. Nowadays, however, decisions will havetobe based onmorethanthis technical information alone. A moreintegral approach isrequired, paying attention toallstakeholders' expectations. Thispaper discusses research performed on modelling the asset management decision process toprovide support during thedecision process.
