Evaluation of Total Sleep Deprivation by Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography

1993
Total sleep deprivation (TSD) has a clear-cut positive effect on mood in depressed patients. Pflug and Tolle (1971) demonstrated that TSD can produce a dramatic effect on depressive symptoms within 24 h. Wu and Bunney (1990) pointed out that an average of 59% of patients respond to TSD as a treatment.
