The invention relates to a measuring device and method for an AIS (automatic identification system) signal field intensity. The device comprises a control module, an AIS signal generating module and an AIS receiver; the AIS signal generating module comprises an analog AIS signal submodule for generating an analog AIS signal, an interference signal simulating submodule for simulating outside AIS signal interference and a signal combining submodule; the method comprises the steps of the step (1) of calibrating the corresponding relation between the field intensity and a package error rate of an AIS receiver and the step (2) of measuring. The measuring device and method for the AIS signal field intensity have the advantages that the relation between the field intensity and the packet error rate of the AIS receiver in a laboratory or on site can be calibrated, the calibrated AIS receiver can be used for measuring the signal field intensity in an AIS base station coverage range, and the device and the method can be used for providing a feasible method for evaluating the performances of an AIS base station.
