Urban Morphology Regeneration Based on Research on Open Space of Historic Blocks:Set Temple Street & Southeast Camp Street Blocks as Examples

How to protect urban morphology and continue memory of the city are the vital issues in Chinese urban planning. The article takes the ancient blocks in Nantong as an example, focusing on the utilization of open spaces. Firstly,conduct some research on functions and structures of blocks, and uses questionnaires to explore the traditions in blocks, finding out the existing problems of current open space and understanding living requirements of inhabitants. Then, with the purpose of regenerating blocks' morphology, analyze the existing problems with the view of connection. After that, some feasible regeneration measures will be proposed to accelerate the trulyregeneration of organic blocks' morphology, such as community participation plan, humane design, functionaldiversity, cultural network, etc.
