Key components when utilising BYOD within organisations - A framework for developing the BYOD policy

In this thesis, we introduce a theoretical framework that can act as a foundation when develop-ing and adopting a BYOD policy. Using BYOD within organizations is a growing concept and continues to evolve as technology gets better, cheaper and more advanced. Our literature study indicates that the biggest advantage in regard to implementation of BYOD is cost reduction, moving the actual cost to the employees. In contrast, the biggest disadvantage is ensuring securi-ty and safe accessibility. Our findings indicates that security indeed is an issue, and that knowledge needs to be spread throughout the entire organization, while the biggest advantages turned out to be comfort and flexibility in the daily work. Our conclusion is that companies in general need to work more actively with BYOD components, which is why we think our framework could act as a foundation to stand upon when addressing BYOD as a concept.
