Cancer de prostate, nutrition pauvre en polyamines et docétaxel Prostate cancer, a low-polyamine diet and docetaxel

2013
A prospective study of the safety of the combination of a low-polyamine diet (NTL solute) and docetaxel chemotherapy in 30 patients with symptomatic, metastatic, castration-resistant prostate cancer was conducted. Chemotherapy was started after an initial three-week neoadjuvant phase of maximum polyamine de- pletion, and then accompanied by a progressive reduction in polya- mine depletion. Patients conti- nued with their previous treat- ments during the study protocol. Exclusive consumption of NTL so- lute with its low-polyamine level or its use in combination with do- cetaxel was well tolerated both on a clinical and biological level. The study protocol was well observed. Improvements in general health, nutritional status, pain, quality of life and prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels were observed.
