G. M. 홉킨스 시의 음악성

2020
Priest poet Gerard Manley Hopkins creates unique linguistic musicality by his poems. He intentionally changes the form of traditional sonnet and arranges his poetic words particularly to draw alliterations. With these kinds of his effort, his poems have vitality and cheerful rhythms which are musicality, and this draws nowadays people’s attention again. The main goal of my thesis is to analyze the relationship between musicality of Hopkins’ poems and his faith for Christ. I would like to study, in particular, Hopkins’ “Spring”, “The Windhover” and “As Kingfishers Catch Fire” in order to research his linguistics techniques that creates musicality. This study will clarify how Hopkins’ faith is deeply relevant to the musicality of his poems.
