A Meta-analysis: efficacy and safety of lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose vein of lower limb

2017
Objective To estimate the effectivity and safety of lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose vein of lower limb by the Meta-analysis on the effective rate and adverse reactions after treatment. Methods Retrieved PubMed, Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang Data, internalized randomized controlled trial of lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose vein of lower limb. Systematically evaluated the quality of methodology, and statistically analyzed them with RevMan5.2. Results There were 16 randomized controlled trial internalized. Meta-analysis showed that the group of lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose vein of lower limb was more effective than the control group. The effective quantity of combining treatment RR=5.80 [2.76, 12.18] (95%CI), P<0.00001, with statistically significant difference. The safety of lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose vein of lower limb was more effective than the control group. The merge effective quantity RR=0.25 [0.15, 0.39] (95%CI), P<0.00001, with statistically significant difference. However, the number of literature was few, and the bias was high. In this case, we need to expand the sample size to get more exact conclusion. Meanwhile, the quality of randomized controlled trial may affect the result. Conclusion The result of Meta-analysis on the 16 literature show that lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose vein of lower limb was effective with few adverse reactions. The conclusion is referring to the clinical medication of varicose vein of lower limb. Key words: Lauromacrogol; Varicose vein of lower limb; Randomized controlled trial; Meta-analysis
