Electromagnetic environment in coal pits

1. Long-term investigations of the electromagnetic environment of various coal pits by the method described reveal that the electromagnetic environments of pits have a number of similar characteristics. This permits us to envisage a generalized model of the electromagnetic environment in a pit, and some properties of this are given in the article. 2. For a more complete identification of the electromagnetic environment it is necessary to extend the measurements in the radio spectral range from 300 to 1000 MHz and to investigate the characteristics of the radio noise sources. 3. A radical means of improving the electromagnetic environment of the operation of a radio system is the suppression of industrial radio noise from equipment in the pits.
