The effect of acetazolamide on fluid transport function in cultured bovine endothelial cells

2007
Objective To study the effect of acetazolamide on fluid transport function in cultured bovine endothelial cells (CBCEC). Methods The CBCEC volume change in a hypo-osmotic solution was recorded after being treated with different concentrations of acetazolamide (1μmol/L,10 μmol/L,and l00 μmol/L),and the change in osmotic water permeability(Pf) was calculated. Results The Pf of CBCEC was (0.0446±0.0089) cm/s,after 72 h of incubation with 0.1~100 μmol/L acetazolamide, and the Pf gradually decreased. Their respective Pf values were (0.0406±0.0014)cm/s,(0.0364±0.0015)cm/s,(0.0300±0.0022)cm/s,and (0.0226±0.0019)cm/s. Conclusion Acetazolamide inhibites the Pf of CBCEC in a dose-dependent manner and inhibited fluid transport of corneal endothelial cells.
