The Anatomy of the Common Marmoset

Abstract This chapter gives an overview of the anatomy of the common marmoset. First, the external characteristics are discussed. Next, the systematic dissection of a male and a female animal allows for illustrating the anatomical fundamentals of the locomotor system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the urogenital tract, the circulatory system, the endocrine organs, and the sensory organs. The nervous system is not included in this chapter as it is covered in Chapter 3 . The aim of this chapter is to provide the researcher with basic anatomical data to enable scientific studies in the marmoset. More detailed anatomical information can be found in the cited literature.
