Sugar beet yield and quality as affected by N fertilization and crop planting density

1997
The effects of N fertilization (100, 150, 200 and 250 kg/ha) and crop density (60,000 and 100,000 plants per hectare) on sugar beet yield and quality were studied. The highest root and crystal sugar yields were achieved by the application of 150 kg/ha N. However, N fertilization did not affect significantly sugar content. Higher crop densities resulted in higher average root and crystal sugar yields. No significant difference in sugar content was observed between the crop densities studied.
