Interaction between Selenium and Mildew

2005
In this paper, inhibiting effects of high dose selenium on Fusarium and the consumption of selenium to the growth and propagation of mildew were studied. And the mildew contamination of grain was investigated in natural high selenium area. The result showed that the two selenium contents,20 mg/L arid 40 mg/L,were both found obviously inhibiting effects on the growth of F. equiseti,F.semitectum,F.sporotrichioides,F.tricinctum,F.graminearum and F.moniliforme.But high dose selenium couldn't decrease mildew contamination of grain in nature and the toxigenicty strain reached 78% in Fusarium. The consumption of grain selenium by Fusarium,Penicillium,Aspergillus and other saprophyticus mildews was even 47%,which hinted that selenium shortage of grain would been increased in the area of Keshan Disease and Keschin-Beck.And the state was worsen with the effects of selenium shortage and mycotoxin.
