SCIENTIFIC PAPER Rotating platform total knee arthroplasty: a follow-up of 62 Chinese patients after 2 to 4 years

2002
We reviewed 117 primary, cemented, low contact stress, rotating platform total knee arthroplasties in 83 Chinese patients performed between June 1998 and April 2000. Five of these patients had major complications. Sixteen patients were excluded because of incomplete documentation or were lost to follow-up. The remaining 62 patients (5 men and 57 women; 90 knees) were followed for a minimum of 2 years. The mean age at operation was 65.0 years (range, 38-78 years). The diagnosis was osteoarthritis in 65 knees (72.2%) and rheumatoid arthritis in 23 knees (25.6%). The mean preoperative Knee Society knee score was 40.6 points, and the mean score at final followup was 86.2 points. In terms of Knee Society functional assessment, the mean preoperative score was 36.1 points, and the mean score at follow-up was 66.2 points. The mean preoperative Oxford knee score was 42.2 points, and the mean score at final follow-up improved to 26.2 points.
