The passenger car overload detection system comprises a sensor module, a data acquisition module, a controller unit, an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) module, a voice module and an information transmitter; the sensor module comprises four infrared sensors; the infrared sensor 1 and the infrared sensor 2 are arranged on the right side of the door of a passenger car, the infrared sensor 3 is arranged on the left side of the door of the passenger car and the infrared sensor 4 is arranged right above the door of the passenger car; the sensor module is connected with the data acquisition module; the data acquisition module is connected with the controller unit; the controller unit is connected with the LCD module, the voice module and the information transmitter respectively. The passenger car overload detection system has the advantages that a method for realizing detection on passengers in the passenger car by use of the sizes of three dimensions of a human body is adopted, the body height, body thickness and body width of one individual passenger are measured by use of the arranged infrared sensors, and then are in combination with statistics, the body size parameters of a human body are obtained, and therefore, the detection on the passengers passing through the door is realized; compared with a common system, the passenger car overload detection system has high accuracy.
