Transport Properties of Silver Sheathed BSCCO-2223 Tapes in High Magnetic Fields

1995
This paper is the first report of our work on HTSC tapes which started only several month ago. Critical current densities of 17 000 A/cm2 were achieved in short samples of Bi-2223/Ag tapes prepared by the powder-in-tube technique. The critical current and I/U-characteristics have been studied in magnetic field up to 8 T and at different temperatures between 4.2 K and 77 K. Close to 77 K and in fields up to 1 T the critical current density is strongly field dependend and obeys a potential law. At lower temperatures a quite different behavior is observed. A new setup for the routine determination of the AC-susceptibility of the tapes is presented.
