An Early Cretaceous labyrinthodont

A crescentic intercentrum and isolated skull bone have been recovered from Early Cretaceous rift valley sediments of the Gippsland Basin, southeastern Victoria. The intercentrum, which is unquestionably from a temnospondyl labyrinthodont, and an ornamented cranial bone confirm the earlier identification of a mandible from a nearby locality as labyrinthodont. These remains are the youngest known of the amphibian Subclass Labyrinthodontia, and the first recorded Cretaceous labyrinthodonts.
