Further Investigation into Urban Spatial Function Organization Based on Residents Activity Data——A Case Study of Nanjing

2014
A number of Chinese cities will step into a later stage of urbanization by 2020,which implies a strong demand for restructuring the spatial and functional pattern of cities with a focus on citizens' activities.Nanjing is selected as the case study area. With the help of massive registration data obtained from the Sina microblog, this paper initiates further discussion on the old urban spatial and functional pattern with a socialized perspective of residents' activities and puts forward some new ideas in promoting social planning which stimulates mixed land use and multi-functional urban space. The propositions are tested at a neighborhood scale in two cases selected from Nanjing, with the hope of providing evidence base and technical solutions for decision-makings in relation to the combination of different land use and the layout of facilities in urban planning.
