[Foundations for differential cytology of cervical changes. 3. Dysplasia and carcinoma in situ (author's transl)].

1981
: Reference is made in this paper to cytomorphological definitions as well as to epidemiological, aetiological, and pathogenetic aspects of cervical carcinomas and pertinent precancerous changes. Cytological criteria, including cytometric data of dysplastic changes, are compared to aspects of cervical carcinomas, and typical pictures are presented of various lesions. Measured cytological data proved to be suitable not only for objectivation of descriptive morphological findings, but they were found to be also useful aids for decision-making in differential cytology.--Diagnostic accuracy in the context of both dysplasias and cervical carcinomas can be in excess of 90 per cent, depending on good preparation practice and adequate diagnostic skill of the examiner.
