Commercial Screening of Environmental Chemicals

With the increased concern for chemical safety that has developed in the past few years, a dramatic increase has developed in the requirements for facilities to perform chemical safety evaluations using defined protocols and carefully standardized test conditions. For the most part, private laboratories have performed the major portion of these evaluations. The reliance on private testing laboratories for general toxicological testing has a relatively long history. Acute, subchronic, and chronic toxicity studies have been standard offerings by a great many of the profit and nonprofit private testing laboratories during the past two decades.
