Open Surgical Treatment: Nonanatomic Reconstruction

Nonanatomical reconstructions belong to one of the various surgical categories for treatment of chronic lateral ankle instability with a long history. Each technique of the nonanatomical reconstructions reported satisfactory clinical outcomes. However, recent long-term comparative studies with anatomic repair or reconstruction showed inferiority. Therefore, a high level of caution is required in performing these procedures.
