Abstract 16276: Acute versus Subacute Angiography in Patients With Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction - The Nonstemi Trial

2017
Introduction: The recent guidelines from The European Society of Cardiology recommend angiography within 24 hours in high-risk patients with acute coronary syndrome without persisting ST-elevations (NSTEMI). Hypothesis: We hypothesize that an organized STEMI-like approach in NSTEMI patients is therapeutic beneficial. Methods: We randomised 500 patients with suspected NSTEMI based on a history of ongoing chest pain and either significant regional ST-depression and/or elevated point-of-care troponin T (POC-cTnT) (≥ 50 ng/l) to either acute or subacute coronary angiography (CAG) (i.e. <72 h of admission). During the study period four patients withdrew their consent completely and one patient withdrew consent for further follow-up after 3 months. The primary endpoint was a composite of death of all cause, re-infarction and readmission with congestive heart failure within 1-year from randomization analysed by intention to treat. Results: A total of 245 patients were assigned to acute CAG and 251 patients to su...
