Morphometric analysis of Yagachi and Hemavathi River Basins around Alur Taluk, Hassan district, Karnataka, India.

Hemavathi and Yagachi rivers are tributaries to river Cauvery. The major rock types around'Alur are granitic-gneisses and schists with invasion of younger basic dikes. The drainage system is dendritic to sub-dendritic and the geomorphol. of the area controls the geometric configuration of the aquifer media. Major structural features obsd. in the area are Hemavathi-Thirthahalli mega lineament. The other lineaments are parallel to mega lineament and these are controlled the streams and their flow directions. Hemavathi and Yagachi are found to be perennial, where as the remaining streams are seasonal. [on SciFinder(R)]
