Up-conversion behaviors of nano-structure BaTi0.9Sn0.1O3 activated by Er3+/Yb3+ ions

2020
Abstract Up-conversion materials have a great interest due to their wonderful spectroscopic properties; up-converted particles are designed by doping the host materials with optically active sensitizer and activator ions. Nano-structure barium titanate doped with tin oxide BaTi0.9Sn0.1O3 (BTSO) doped with Erbium 0.45 mol % of Er3+ and co-doped with Erbium/YtterbiumEr3+/Yb3+ ions was prepared using the modified sol-gel method. Information obtained from XRD patterns indicated the tetragonal phase present in the perovskite nano-structure prepared samples. The crystallite size (C.S) and average particle size (P.S) of BTSO:0.45E given by XRD and TEM found to be increased by the sensitizer Yb3+ ions concentration. TEM micrographs show that particles have a spherical shape with a small size within the nanostructure phase. The samples exhibit intense green up-conversion (UC) emission (seen by necked eyes) at 523 and 547 nm under the excitation of 980 nm laser diode, the emission peaks were studied as a function of the dopant concentration and laser power. The power-dependent photoluminescence confirms the two photons' absorption process. The prepared samples of BTSO doped with Er3+ and co-doped with Er3+/Yb3+ ions are promising potential candidates for the fabrication of the electro-optical devices as display devices and solid-state lasers.
