Influence of the composition of lignite-lignin briquettes on their absorption of water

1995
The absorption of water by the briquettes is due to the physicochemical properties of the surface of the components included in the composition of a briquette. It is proposed to use gatch,a product of petroleum dewaxing, as a protective film-forming coating of the briquettes. Such briquettes have a quite resistance to attrition, impact strength, low water absorption, and can be stored under a tent under natural conditions without any changes during six months. The optimal parameters of gatch film application to lignite briquettes for protecting them from the weather and mechanical action were selected. The gatch consumption is 8.4-10.0 kg per tonne of lignite.
