The invention provides a method and a device for resetting by means of optical transmission with an aim to reset equipment by means of screen optical transmission. The method includes taking a group of pictures displayed on a second device, wherein the number T of the pictures is larger than or equal to three; alternatively changing and displaying the group of pictures by the second device according to the preset time interval, wherein the pictures are different in brightness, some of the pictures are set as specific pictures, the number of the specific pictures is t and t is larger than or equal to two and small than T; transmitting reset signals to the second device and instructing the second device to reset when the specific pictures reappear the preset times m. The method and the device for resetting by means of optical transmission can be well applied to occasions requiring equipment resetting in the communication field and are very convenient.
