Immunogenicity of capsular polysacharide of Pasteurella multocida B:2 conjugated to protein carrier in rabbits

2007
The purified capsular polysaccharide of Pasteurella multocida B:2 was conjugated with bovine serum albumin by reductive amination and the immune response elicited in rabbit by conjugate vaccine was studied. The conjugate was immunogenic while the capsular polysaccharide and the non-conjugated capsular polysaccharide with BSA failed to elicit any protective immune response. The conjugate vaccine was able to afford 66% protection on challenge with P. multocida B:2.
