A new triterpenoid glycoside from roots of Ilex pubescens

Objective To investigate the chemical constituents from the roots of Ilex pubescens.Methods The compounds were separated and purified by chromatography on silica gel,and Sephadex LH-20 columns.Their chemical structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods and chemical evidences.Results A triterpenoid glycoside was purified and its structure was identified as 3-O-β-D-xylopyranosylspathodic acid(1).Conclusion Compound 1 is a new triterpenoid glycoside,named ilexsaponin D.
