PROJECTED 1985 AUTOMOBILE GASOLINE SAVINGS FROM THE HOUSE-PASSED GAS GUZZLER TAX AND CONFERENCE MINIMUM MILEAGE STANDARDS. ANALYSIS MEMORANDUM AM/EU-7802

An analysis is presented of the potential 1985 impacts from the House-passed gas guzzler tax and the Conference minimum mileage standards. Two alternative methodologies were employed for the purpose of this analysis. One approach used the DOE Faucett model. The other used DOT projections of the automobile manufacturers' capabilities to meet EPCA new car economy standards based on data obtained from the manufacturers.
