Potential Ecological Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Sediment in Beidaihe Coastal Area

2014
A long-term and large-scale survey of Cu,Pb,Cd,and Zn in sediment of Beidaihe coastal area was conducted in spring, summer, and autumn from 2011 to 2012.The spatial distribution of concentrations of these heavy metals and their potential ecological risks were analyzed using the single factor pollution index, multiple ecological risk index, and the potential ecological risk index. The result showed that the content of heavy metals is increasing from the costal area of Funing to its two wings. The harbor area was facing relatively more serious pollution than other areas, followed by Shanhaiguan costal area,Beidaihe costal area,Changli costal area, and Funing costal area. The contents of all heavy metals were not over the first grade standard of the marine sediment standard, which indicated a light ecological harm at present.
