Publisher Summary This chapter provides preface of the second edition of the book, “ Genetic Dissection of Complex Traits. ” This volume contains 25 chapters, divided into 5 sections. This volume can be used as a standard reference by a wide audience of pre- and postdoctoral scientists, methodologists who seek an overview of some of the latest developments in this area, and, most importantly, the scores of investigators who seek to evaluate the genetic basis of complex traits. It can be used as a reference book for upper-level undergraduate students, as well as a textbook for graduate students majoring in quantitative aspects of human genetics or in genetic epidemiology. Genetic dissection of complex traits continues to be the greatest challenge in genetics. However, the future looks more promising and exciting than ever before.
