Relationship of thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor with lung diseases

Thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor is a recently discovered plasma enzyme,that plays an important role in the fibrinolytic system.Recent studies suggest that its physiological function is not limited to controlling fibrinolysis but may serve a much broader anti-inflammatory role.The article reviews the association of thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor and lung diseases,such as acute lung injury,pulmonary fibrosis,pulmonary thromboembolism,and bronchial asthma.
