Integrating Telemedicine in Urban Pediatric Primary Care: Provider Perspectives and Performance

Ten primary care practices participated in a 24-month study using Health-e-Access to determine its efficiency, effectiveness, and acceptability. The system was utilized by 40 providers to see 2,475 patient encounters via telemedicine. Each provider was asked to complete a 30-item Web-based questionnaire. Although the providers used telemedicine to effectively serve families, they perceived little or no advantage in efficiency or effectiveness in their practice.
