Métodos de lucha química para el control del zabro del cereal, Zabrus tenebrioides (Goeze, 1777) (Col.: Carabidae) en Navarra

The population of the phytophagous coleopteron Zabrus tenebrioides showed a substantial increase during the 1989-1990 season, affecting winter cereals over a large area in Navarra (Spain). The pest level reached 70 larvae per square metre in some samples. These high levels led to carrying out two tests in the following season to evaluate the efficiency of some treatement systems. Various insecticides were used in three application ways: pre-sowing granulated, seed disinfection and spraying when the first damages were noticed. Pre-sowing and spraying treatments were the most efficient. Seed disinfection produced irregular results, possibly due to soil type.
