Variation of coherent to Compton scattering differential cross-section ratios of some lanthanides with the external magnetic field at 59.54 keV

2019
Abstract The coherent to Compton differential cross-section ratios of some lanthanides have been calculated in an external magnetic field. The lanthanide samples were irritated by 59.54 keV from Am 241 radioactive source. A Si(Li) detector was used for detected scattered photons. It was observed that the coherent to Compton differential cross-section ratios increase with increasing magnetic field (B = 0.4 T and 0.8 T). The coherent to Compton scattering differential cross-section ratios, corrected for photo-peak efficiency of gamma detector and absorption of photons in the sample and air. The obtained intensity ratios are plotted as function of the atomic number and constituted a best-fit-curve. The correlation coefficients for fit curves were found. The theoretical results were obtained with three different methods and compared with experimental results in 0 T.
