Development of Real Time Helmet based Authentication with Smart Dashboard for Two Wheelers

Nowadays, it is mandatory to wear helmet in all countries for safety purpose. At the time of accident helmet may save a rider’s life. Usually most of the people avoid wearing helmet. Thus to encourage rider to wear helmet and to provide smart features to two wheelers, a work is proposed here which will authenticate the engine ignition only when the rider will wear a helmet and provide smart dashboard on the two wheeler for making communication with helmet when worn by the rider. The communication between helmet and smart dashboard is established using Bluetooth, thus providing secure and confident link between the two. Network of limit switch with proper mechanical assembly installed inside the helmet is used to detect the helmet wearing phenomenon. Smart dashboard has graphical touch screen, thus enabling Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the features like maintaining the bike service records, automatic head light control mechanism through LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) and One Time Password (OTP) input for two wheeler access in the absent of helmet. Smart dashboard is also equipped with GPS and GSM to locate the Vehicle position, in case of vehicle lost or theft through a missed call. During emergency rider can also contact to the contacts list in the dashboard via specific button on GUI.
