Epidemiological Investigation of Infection of Theileria annulata for Cattle in Some Epidemic Areas of Turpan

2013
[Objective]This study was designed to conduct the epidemiological investigation of infection of Theileria annulata for cattle in some epidemic areas of Turpan.[Method]A number of suspected Theileria annulata disease cases(n=126) in Turpan were diagnosed by molecular method:Polymerase chain reaction and then the result was compared with that of blood smear method of 126 samples. And cattle were divided into groups by age and farm respectively and analyzed by statistical methods.[Result]The infection rate of Theileria annulata for 126 suspected cases was 51.6%(65/126),while that of blood smear method was 47.6%(60/126).The difference between different farms or ages were both significant(P0.05).[Conclusion]Turpan is the epidemic region of Theileria annulata. The only way to cure the disease is to diagnose it early by molecular method, eliminate intermediary ticks, and take feasible comprehensive precautionary measures to keep it in control.
