Robust Multiple Emitter Localization and Interference Mitigation Using Adaptive Antenna Array

2004
This paper outlines a method to apply robust adaptive beamforming algorithms to a multi-channel linear array antenna to produce accurate direction of arrival (DOA) estimates of multiple RF emitters in a multipath interference environment. Advanced adaptive Wiener filtering is used to produce robust super-resolution DOA estimates of both direct and multipath signals from which spatial steering vectors are derived. These steering vectors are used to define low sidelobe spatial filters. Subsequent cross-correlation processing is used to discriminate direct-path angles from multipath angles and determine the true azimuth angles of the emitters.
