Thulium-doped intrinsic fiber optic sensor for high temperature measurements (>1100 °C)

1998
The need to achieve higher temperature performance from fluorescence-based optical thermometers has prompted the investigation of a range of rare-earth doped materials. In this work, results are presented on the use of a thulium-doped fiber-based system. The performance of the thermometer is presented, and stable measurements at temperatures up to 1250 °C are reported using the fluorescence lifetime approach.
