MEDICAL CARE AND THE SOCIAL WORTH OF A MAN

The allocation of medical care to individual patients, and especially the newer, relatively unavailable medical procedures, is ordinarily made by criteria of wealth (purchasing power), personal and professional preference, social pressures, and similar factors. It is proposed that social value be made a prime consideration for life-and-death choices concerning whom to accept for special treatment among numerous candidates.
