Equipment for Fast Automatic Readout of TSEE Dosemeters Employing a Wide-Range Proportional Counter

1985
The influence of temperature and pressure of the counting gas on the characteristics and reproducibility of cylindrical proportional counters for exoelectron measurements is outlined and possibilities for an improved operation are described. For a fast readout of BeO thin-film dosemeters, a computer-controlled equipment has been constructed which employs a wide-range proportional counter, active pulse amplification, optical heating and temperature detection. The dosemeters are stored in input and output receptacles and are transported to the counting tube under processor control. A complete readout cycle of one sample occurs in about 30 s. The characteristic data of the dose measurements are printed out by a thermoprinter. The whole set of data is also available at a serial interface.
