Pressure-broadening rates from the near-wing amplitude
1981
The authors report measurements of collision-broadening rates for Na D lines perturbed by rare gases. A monochromatic laser is used to probe the wings of the D lines several Doppler widths from resonance. The ratio of the broadening rate to the known radiative decay rate is determined from the pressure dependence of the total scattered light.
