Gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) from an imaging perspective

2005
Gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) is a new term emerging from reclassification of leiomyomas and leiomyosarcomas of the gastrointestinal tract. Histopathological refinement, molecular genetics and immunophenotypic characterization has resulted in better understanding and sub classification of this disease entity [1, 2, 3]. Based on imaging alone it is not possible to sub classify the disease as imaging features are not specific [1]. We present two cases of GIST along with their imaging features.
