Experimental Validation of a Modal Equivalent Circuit for Complex Interconnection Networks in Metallic Enclosures of Arbitrary Shape

In a recent publication, we presented a novel broadband equivalent-circuit model for the analysis of electromagnetic interference of complex interconnection networks in metallic enclosures of arbitrary shape [1] . This model is an extension of the equivalent circuit for electrically small current probes presented in [2] . Based on the eigenmodes of the system, the admittance is expressed by a sum of N RLC-circuits, weighted by coupling factors ν . These coupling factors for different port geometries are determined using the power balance between circuit and field quantities. The slow convergence, which typically arises in eigenmode expansions, is circumvented by the extraction of quasi-static inductances and capacitances. Additionally, losses are considered by modal resistive elements. The resulting mutual admittance between port 1 and 2 can be expressed by
