A process for producing articles with a fine equiaxed grain structure

2012
A method of casting a metallic material for forming a component will be described. The component can be a superalloy turbine part containing eg. The general procedure includes the step of casting of the metallic material in molten form into a precision casting mold, and then the rapid immersion of the entire precision casting mold in a bath containing a liquid cooling metal low melting point to a substantially uniform heat transfer in a plurality of directions from the molten to obtain material. The molten material that solidifies to form the component, characterized by a fine grain equiaxed grain structure. Related embodiments include the use of two bars that make up the superalloy material. An ingot includes the reactive oxygen elements and is manufactured by a vacuum melting technique. The other bars includes the rest of the elements, and it can be produced by a number of techniques, such as an air fusion.
