Fundamentals and advantages of satellite radar interferometry, some problems in this area and ways to overcome them are discussed by the examples of some projects performed by the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the RAS in recent years. Examples of monitoring of landslide slopes activity in the Big Sochi region and estimation of displacement rates of the earth surface and infrastructure facilities at the Romashkino oil field are considered. A procedure of estimation of three components of the displacement vector using satellite radar interferometry data is described. A method of joint analysis of satellite and surface data is discussed.
