Energetics of fission of Th232 induced by 27.8 MeV helium ions

>A back-to-back solid state detector system was used to study the energetics of 27.8-Mev helium ion-induced fission of Th/sup 232/, an ion beam of 0.05 mu a in intensity being used from the I.N.S. cyclotron. A symmetric peak observed in the kinetic energy contour diagram is reported. The mass yield and the average total kinetic energy curves, derived from the contour diagram, are presented. (L.B.S.)
