Psychotherapy with the elderly is becoming more and more common practice, be it institutional or private, and many authors have defended the soundness of such treatment. More especially, the psychotherapeutic approach with the elderly has benefited in recent years of the emergence of short-term therapy centred around real problems and considered more effective for coping with everyday problems. Of these, cognitive therapy has without doubt contributed most to the acceptance of psychological care for the elderly.
