Variable scattering dots: Laser processing light guide plate microstructures with arbitrary features and arrangements

2020
Abstract The use of variable scattering dots to replace simplex dots is proposed to create an excellent light guide plate. The application of ultrafast laser processing on scattering dots is implemented in this paper, and the uniformity and light utilization are verified by means of simulations and experiments. The performance of these dots depends not only on the density and distribution but also on the specific features of the dots. The concept of a suitable shape and smaller dots with better scattering effects is confirmed. The use of femtosecond laser processing can achieve high-quality microdots with arbitrary features, and parallel beams can ensure the future throughput of microstructure arrays.
