Laparoscopic cystogastrotomy by ultrasonic dissection after pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodectomy.

2012
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives: Symptomatic pancreaticpseudocysts can be drained using open, endoscopic, andlaparoscopic techniques. Little is written on the role oflaparoscopic drainage techniques after major abdominaloperations. We describe a case of laparoscopic cystgas-trotomy after pancreaticoduodenecomy. Case Report: A 55-year-old female with a prior history ofopen pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy pre-sented with multiple symptomatic pancreatic pseudocystsin the setting of alcohol-induced chronic pancreatitis. Methods: After preoperative planning with contrast-en-hanced computed tomography, the patient successfullyunderwent laparoscopic cystgastrotomy with ultrasonicdissection. Conclusion: This case report illustrates that laparoscopiccystenteric drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts can beperformed safely after major open abdominal operations.Further investigation is needed. Key Words: Pancreatic pseudocysts, Laparoscopy, Ultra-sonic dissection, Cystenteric drainage.
